*Nicola Pontarollo is assistant professor at the University of Brescia (Brescia, Italy). He obtained a PhD in Economics and Finance from the University of Verona (Verona, Italy). After his PhD he was Assistant Professor at the Catholic University of the North (Antofagasta, Chile), PostDoc researcher at the University of Milan-Bicocca (Milan, Italy) and Statistical Officer at the Joint Research Center, European Commission. He also carried out visiting and teaching periods at the University of Cuenca (Cuenca, Ecuador) and the Suleyman Demirel University (Almaty, Kazakhstan). His scientific interests include the study of regional resilience and subnational economic growth. Recently, his research has focused on the analysis of the geography of discontent, subjective well-being and multidimensional poverty. He published in international scientific Journals like Regional Studies, Journal of Regional Science, Papers in Regional Science, Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of Happiness Studies, Socio-economic Planning Sciences, Land Use Policy and Ecological Indicators, among others.
